Friendships Transcend Time

I will admit that I am not a good friend. I don’t keep in touch. I don’t actively reach out to check on people or set up times to get together. That is not who I am. However, I do value the friendships I have made over the years, and I enjoy seeing your pictures, families, and successes on Facebook. Your friendships are held close to my heart even though I do not express that emotion.
As I look back over the years, it has been refreshing to see how friendships transcend time. People who I met only briefly still make a lasting impact on who I am today. Our paths crossed in our childhoods for short moments, but when we reconnect on Facebook, it seems as if there was never a time I didn’t know you.
On my journey through college and my career, many of you impacted me with your support, kindness, and love. As I moved into different stages on the journey, you may have faded from being an active participant in my life, but the memories and influences remained with me.
Yes, friendships transcend time. Reconnecting with friends from years ago renews my spirit and births emotions built on loving memories. I will continue to be a bad friend – I accept that part of me, but your friendships mean the world to me.
